Samsung to Launch ChatON, the Mobile Instant Messaging Tool
Samsung has announced its plans to launch a mobile instant messaging tool, reports Reuters. Samsung believes the tool would give a fight to rivals like Apple and Research in Motion by attracting more consumers for Samsung handsets.
The new tool has been named as ChatON. Customers would be able to use the service from October onwards. Samsung’s feature phones and smartphones running on bada OS and Google’s Android software would have this tool preinstalled.
ChatON will function across all major smartphone platforms such as iPhone and BlackBerry. Users would be able to send text, images, etc., using ChatON. It would also allow users to chat in groups and share video clips.
The mobile messaging market is already flooded with different messaging tools. Mobile service providers even have apprehensions that their revenue from profitable text messaging services may be hit with these new messaging services. Apple is planning to launch iMessage soon for its iPhone and iPad users to enable them send messages over the Internet at no cost. RIM has already launched a new music service for BlackBerry Messenger users.
