"I know Varun is in safe hands" - David Dhawan
Karan Johar certainly has a way with making people feel extra special. He is doing that not just on his TV shows but also films. On Tuesday, almost two years after My Name Is Khan, he started shoot for his newest directorial outing Student of The Year. In order to make it extra special for his lead actor Varun Dhawan, he chose his dad David Dhawan's birthday as the D-Day.
Confirms a family friend of Dhawans, "It is a matter of pride for all involved that Karan chose to give them so much respect. Davidji is immensely happy that none other than Karan is launching Varun. And now with Varun facing the camera for the first time on his dad's birthday, it is turning out to be an out and out family affair. Guess Karan is living the adage of 'It's all about loving your family'."
For David Dhawan too it was a big moment to see his son turning actor and getting the best launch that he could have dreamt of. However, he kept his birthday celebrations quite simple while spending time with his immediate family in the evening.
"Varun has given me my best birthday gift by impressing Karan and making his way as a lead actor in the film; what more could I have asked for", says David while being visibly emotional charged, "To be launched by one of the biggest banners in the country today could be anyone's dream and for me it is indeed a big moment that Karan showed faith in Varun."
He admits though that despite being a director himself, he has no plans to indulge in Varun's day to day affairs.
"I want to lie low on his matters. Also, I too am quite busy working on Rascals. Less than 50 days are left for the film's release and I am occupied with the film's post production. In any case what's the need of me interfering at all? I know Varun is in safe hands", concludes Dhawan.
