Ramdev arrest: The prime minister should act nowThe ham-handed handling of Baba Ramdev's movement against foreign bank accounts of Indian nationals by the government does not speak well either of the government headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh or of the Congress headed by Sonia Gandhi , or of the senior bureaucracy advising the PM.
Public anger against the perceived lack of action by the government to detect and proceed legally against the holders of illegal accounts abroad had been building up at least for a year, if not longer. This anger was more faithfully and accurately reflected in the internet than in the print and electronic media.
While the electronic media played a commendable role in reflecting public anger over the foot-dragging by the government in taking action on charges of corruption against certain political leaders, it did not take serious note of the internet anger over government's perceived inaction against illegal accounts held abroad by Indian nationals....being a human...

Baba's arrest was 'barbaric': BJP
Reacting sharply to Sunday's early morning arrest of Baba Ramdev from Ramlila grounds in New Delhi , Bhartiya Janata Party spokesman Prakash Javadekar condemned the government's move and described it as highly barbaric act.
Speaking to rediff.com on phone from Lucknow, he said that it reminded the party of the emergency days."Party president Nitin Gadkari ji will give a detailed reaction at a press conference in Lucknow later in the day. But the manner in which the government removed Baba Ramdev is condemnable," Javadekar said.
Prashant Bhushan, one of the civil society members on the drafting committee on Lokpal Bill, called the act as totally undemocratic.
"This could have been avoided. The situation could have been worse had there been a stampede at the grounds. The government moved in because they did not want this to turn into another Anna Hazare-like situation", he said. Swami Agnivesh was resting and hence chose not to comment....being a human...
