The comparisons are inevitable.
As Kate Middleton sailed down the aisle today at her fairytale wedding to Prince William, all eyes were on her gown.
Revealed to be the work of Alexander McQueen head designer Sarah Burton, Kate's ivory and white satin gazar ensemble was truly resplendent, with French Chantilly lace and English Cluny lace adorning the bodice, skirt and underskirt.
The outfit was complemented by a silk tulle veil, trimmed with hand-embroidered flowers and crowned with a Cartier 'halo' tiara, which the Queen lent her granddaughter-in-law for the occasion.
Princess Diana's gown was created by designer duo Elizabeth and David Emanuel.
Stitched from 40 yards of ivory silk tafetta and antique lace, it sported 10,000 hand-swen pearls and a 25-foot train. The sleeves were a feminine treat, large and puffy in exaggerated gather...being a human...
