Bipasha Basu opens up to item songs
After spending a decade in the industry, Bipasha Basu has now bowed down to market diktats. She is now willing to do something that she has seldom done before which is to dance on an item number for a film where she is not the leading lady."Right from the time she made her debut with Ajnabee (2001), Bipasha was clear about one thing that she would never dance for someone else's film", says a source close to the actress, "There were offers right from the beginning but she always resisted the temptation.
After all she has enjoyed her fair share of chartbuster tracks like 'Mehbooba' (Ajnabee), 'Beedi Jalaile' (Omkara), 'No Entry' (No Entry) and 'Lucky Boy' (Bachna Ae Haseeno) amongst others." The only exception made was an item number 'Phoonk De' for ex-beau John Abraham's No Smoking and a fleeting appearance in Shah Rukh Khan's 'Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte' (Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi). However, her resistance seems to be breaking now and she is open to the idea of gyrating to the tune of an item number. One strongly suspects if this has to do with the fact that today Malaika Arora (Munni), Deepika Padukone (Dum Maaro Dum) and Mallika Sherawat (Razia) are making the best use of the space being made available for those special item numbers. Recently Yana Gupta too bagged a special item number for Bhatts' Murder 2.
