Australia gets 60-run victory over Bangladesh in the opening ODI match
Winning the first ODI match by 60 runs, Australia took 1-0 lead of the 3-match ODI series. The 3-match ODI series between Bangladesh and Australia started from Saturday at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.
Winning the toss, Bangladeshi skipper, Shakib Al Hasan, chose to bowl first and it was obviously a tough decision for a team like Bangladesh. However, coming to bat first, Australia could score 270 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Making such a challenging score against the host team became possible thanks to Australian captainís century.
It was his first ODI century as captain. He scored 101 off 111 balls. However, after coming to reply Australiaís target, host team could score only 210-5 in their limited over. Bangladeshi opener, Tamim Iqbal, played well and scored 62 runs. Shakib Al Hassan also played a passionate 51-run innings that helped his team to decrease the defeat margin.
Mushfiqur Rahim was the third highest run scorer who scored unbeaten 44 runs that helped Bangladesh cricket team to surpass 200-mark. Suhrawadi Shuvo was the most successful bowler as he claimed 3 wickets giving 44 runs.
Bangladesh will face Australia on 11 April 2011 in their second ODI match. This match will be played at the same ground....being a human...
