It was a big bang beginning to the new year with over 100 tablets and a number of phones being launched at the Consumer Electronics Fair, Las Vegas. Manufacturers are now geared up for the next big event of 2011, the Mobile World Congress (MWC), Barcelona. A number of big mobile phone launches are expected at this year's event. Ten phones that we believe will make the most buzz.
Samsung Galaxy S2
The launch of the successor to Samsung's popular Galaxy S phone is happening for sure at the MWC 2011. Samsung is already running teasers promoting the launch event. Some specs of the new Galaxy phone have also leaked out and they do look impressive: 4.5-inch screen, dual-core processor, Android Gingerbread and an 8 megapixel camera.
LG Optimus 3D phone
Touted as the 'world's first full 3D smartphone', the LG Optimus 3D can both record and display 3D content. The camera features a dual camera at the back and will not require any glasses to view 3D content. The phone is also equipped with HDMI output and DLNA video streaming.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo
Previously known as the Halon, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo is expected to have a 4-inch screen screen, 1 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM and an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash
HTC Facebook phone
It now seems that HTC Facebook phone will not be a co-branded phone but an HTC device that is Facebook-centric.
Sony Ericsson Sony Xperia Play
This is the PlayStation phone that we all have been waiting for long. The Xperia Play is an Android-powered smartphone that comes with a dedicated gamepad.
The Nokia N9, one of the most awaited phones of the year, will come powered by the all-new MeeGo OS. And according to a new set of leaked specs, it will be powered by a 1.6 GHz Intel processor and have 512 MB of RAM. The phone will also sport a chicklet keypad.
Codenamed Pyramid, this device could be HTC first dual-core handset. Powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, the Pyramid is also said to be able to play 1080p video. Also rumoured is a 16 megapixel camera.
Nokia is desperately in need for a resurrection and it hopes that its new phone will do the trick. The Nokia X7-00 has been generating interest via leaked videos and images and looks similar to the Nokia E7.
One of the many Nokia devices expected to be launched at the Mobile World Congress, the Nokia E6-00 is expected to resemble recent Nokia candybar QWERTY phones. The Symbian phone is expected to sport an 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash.
HTC Desire 2
HTC is expected to unveil the next version of the Desire at the MWC 2011. The phone is believed to feature a Super AMOLED screen and will run on Android Gingerbread and could also pack in a dual-core processor....being a human...
