Australia v England 2nd ODI: Australia defeat England by 46 runs
Australia defeated England comfortably by 46 runs in the second ODI today at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart. The hosts now lead the seven-match ODI series 2-0.
Chasing a modest target of 231 runs, the visitors lost their track early in the innings. Matt Prior made a third ball duck in his comeback game while Kevin Pietersen earned a golden duck to leave the visitors struggling at 36/3.
Ian Bell (32) and Jonathan Trott (32) added 47 runs for the fourth wicket but both the batsmen got out one after another and half of the side was back in the pavilion with just 96 runs on the board.
Eoin Morgan (21) and Michael Yardy (22) briefly threatened with a partnership of 44 runs but the Australian bowlers were too good for the England batsmen today. They were finally all out for 184 runs in the 45th over.
Doug Bollinger, in particular, bowled well to earn figures of 4/28 to go with his innings of 30 runs while Brett Lee picked up 2/39 from his nine overs. Shaun Marsh was declared the player of the match for his match-winning 110 runs. The third match of the series will be played at Sydney on Sunday....being a human...
