What a Tag Line, I love this "Heroes are not born, but created by circumstances!".

Heroes is a story of two film students, Nawab (Vatsal Seth) and Saand (Sohail Khan), setting out to make a graduating film and their theme is Ďwhy one should not join the Armyí. And in the process they are asked to deliver three letters to the families for three martyrs Ė Balkar Singh (Salman Khan), Dhananjay Shergill (Bobby Deol) and Sahil Naqvi (Dino Morea). These are the undelivered last letters that the army men write so that they can be delivered to their family after their death on field. During their journey through the emotions of these family members, the two realise that being an army man and living for your pride would probably be the best thing one could do!

The film is essentially divided into three parts, one dedicated for each family. First comes Balkarís family which lost its only son. However, Balkarís wife Kuljeet (Preity Zinta) has taken it up on her to take care of the family. And she even does the required farming, including driving tractors. Second comes Dhananjayís brother Vikram Shergill (Sunny Deol), who lives with pride despite losing his brother and his own legs during the war. And third comes Sahil Naqviís father Doctor Naqvi, who is still angry with his son for not returning back.

Every story has its touching moments. Kuljeet crying with her husbandís uniform in her hands and maintaining that she is proud to be widow of a martyr; Vikramís reaction to his brotherís letter; Sahilís mother playing out a tape her son recorded just before his death and Doctor Naaqvi talking to his dead sonís photograph are probably the best among them.
