Oberoi's Pricey Priyanka Nuptials: Rs. 25 Lakh For Vivek's Footwear!
He's naughty and has been well upto knotty matters, as well. And what's better, accomplished it on a high decibel note of pomp and ceremony.
The topline event of Bengalaru, Vivek Oberoi's wedding with Priyanka Alva, maintained a high degree of excitement although many of cinedom's denizens ventured nowhere near Bengalaru. The 'haldi' ceremony at a top venue was high on wet thrills, ha ha, as most of the guests were dunked into the pool.
Attire stylist Tarun Tahiliani had designed the red and gold ensembles for the wedding duo and everyone was raving over how fab the two looked together.
Bridegroom Oberoi was ribbed by the bride's side, even before he rode the 'ghodi' (mare); who was made to sway and trot before he was allowed to get off!
As per custom, Oberoi had to give up his shoes to his sisters in law before he was let into the 'mandap' to take his rightful place beside his bashful bride. And they demanded a koooollllllll Rs. 25 lakh.
"But it was all done in good humour," revealed a close source. "Eventually, after some teasing and cajoling, the Oberois paid a couple of lakhs so that Vivek could get his shoes back!"
Over 200 policemen were in attendance for the security of about 4000 guests who showed up to jubilate at the event; Swarovski crystals from the Czech republic and flowers from Italy added to the glam quotient… and surely, all the guests had a blast as the wedding rites were performed as per both Punjabi and Karnataka traditions…
The cuisine, was another highlight altogether, though the spread was totally vegetarian. "But there was also a separate spread only for Karnataka specialities," stated a source. The dessert spread demanded an express mention with "a nine foot chocolate fountain" also on the menu.
A posse of top brass politicos made it to the grand affair; and the B Town quotient was ably represented by Sangeeta Bijlani and Sushmita Sen who showed up with Renee, in tow. And the South brigade boasted of luminaries such as Chiranjeevi, Sudeep and Mani Ratnam, among others.
