Ian Pont Bangladesh’s new bowling coach
Ian Pont is the new bowling coach of Bangladesh cricket team. He was chosen for this post after South African Lance Klusener had rejected it. He will coach Bangladesh cricket team till the end of next year’s World Cup. He joined the Bangladesh team’s training camp on Thursday in Mirpur.
After being appointed as the new bowling coach, he has filled the vacancy that was created by the former Sri Lanka fast bowler, Champaka Ramanayake, who took resignation due to his illness.
Previously, the 49-year-old Englishman, Ian Pont, was the coach of Netherlands for two years until the 2007 World Cup. He is the owner of a cricket academy and also known as author of the coaching manual, "The Fast Bowler's Bible". He wrote this in 2006. He also coached
He played for Nottinghamshire and Essex in his county career, but he made his brief foray into the world of baseball. He is also known for powerful throw. He is currently working as a technical fast technical fast bowling consultant to Northamptonshire County Cricket Club and he is the head coach of the International Pro Camp based in Potchefstroom, South Africa that runs every December.
It seems that under the coaching of Ian Pont, Bangladeshi bowlers will master the art of bowling slow balls. Slower Obsolete Delivery or SLOB is the latest creation by Ian Pont. It is also known as “the world’s best slower ball”.
However, he is not the only English coach in Bangladesh cricket team. BCB also named Englishman, Julien Fountain, as the fielding coach to strengthen their performance ahead of the 2011 World Cup which will be hosted by three South Asian countries.
Headed by main coach, Jamie Siddons, Bangladesh has completed a reshuffle of their coaching staff.
