Chelsea Put £40m for Fernando Torres
Just a day after Fernando Torres’ agent indicated his client could leave Liverpool for another Premier League club, Chelsea has put £40 million in offer for Liverpool to sign the Spanish striker. Though nothing has been revealed by cash-trapped Liverpool yet, it is pretty much understandable that the offer is enticing enough to bring Liverpool officials to the negotiation table.
Reports out in the media also suggest that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is even ready to splash £70m for the 26-year-old striker. It seems a bit bizarre when the player himself has been struggling for form in South Africa in the ongoing World Cup. Torres would most probably be dropped form Spain’s starting line up against Germany in tomorrow’s semi final for his poor form.
Fernando Torres missed a lot of action for Liverpool last season due to his knee injury and underwent a knee surgery in April before returning in action just prior to the World Cup.
Chelsea is currently under a debt worth around £726 million and did not make any big money signing over the last couple of years. It is really surprising that the West London club is still has the courage of spending around £40 million for just one player.
There is no doubt, Torres is a big star and has already proven his wroth while playing for Atletico Madrid and Liverpool. However, his age and recent form can not justify a £40 million offer....being a human...
