Barcelona will not Pay €50-60m for Cesc Fabregas, Says President Sandro Rosell
Newly elected Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has confirmed that cash-trapped Barcelona would not pay €50-60m for Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas. However, at the same time he once again revealed that they are highly interested to get their former student back at Nou Camp.
Cesc Fabregas joined Arsenal from Barcelona youth side in 2003 and over the years has grown into one of the most influential midfielders in the world. Manager Arsene Wenger even handed him the captain’s armband in 2008, having seen his prospect on the field. Barcelona tried to secure Fabregas’ service in the past years, but it seems they are now more determined to bring their DNA back at Catalonia this summer.
Barcelona’s initial £29 million offer was rejected by Arsenal who demands a price around £50 million for their most prized asset. However, Rosell, in an interview with a radio, today revealed that Barcelona even would not be able to go close to Arsenal’s valuation of the player. He clearly indicated that Barcelona could pay around £35 million for Fabregas.
He also said that Barcelona had recently sold Dmytro Chygrynskiy to Shakhtar Donetsk for £12.5 million mainly because of their current financial crisis. He also criticized his predecessor Joan Laporta for dealing the Fabregas issue publicly.
Well, it is pretty much understandable that Barcelona is going though a financial problem, but that does not mean that another club (here Arsenal) would have to comprise for that.
Arsene Wenger picked up an invaluable talent in Fabregas 7 years back when he was nobody, and nurtured his talent over the years to flourish his potential. Now, he is a big star and has 4 years left in his current contract with Arsenal, and there is no reason Arsenal would show any kind of leniency to lower their price....being a human...
