    Default Prime Minister inaugrates Delhi IGIís New Terminal T-3

    Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today dedicated Indira Gandhi International Airportís new swanky terminal T-3 to the people of India.

    The state of the art terminal is completed in nearly three billion dollars. It can handle 34 million passengers a year. Terminal No. 3 opening was reported at 10:40 am. UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi along with Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel, Andhra Pradeshís CM K Rosaiah, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, G M Rao, chairman of GMR Group were also present on the occasion.

    Terminal 3 would be opening to the people later this month. This terminal has been completed in just 37 months ahead of the Commonwealth Games which are hosted by New Delhi in the month of October this year. This Terminal T-3 spreads over a 4 square Kms and have 97 automated walkways with 78 Aerobridges. The terminal also has 168 check-in counters and five-level baggage screening system with a capacity to handle 12,800 bags per hour.

    With the opening of Terminal 3, it becomes sixth largest in the world after Dubai, Beijing, Singapore, Bangkok and Mexico City. It has latest IT system to meet the need of the passengers. The main reason behind building this Gigantic Terminal are the Commonwealth Games which are scheduled to be held in Delhi this Year in the month October.
