Volkswagen Vento entry level sedan will be launched in India on July 6th
German automaker, Volkswagen, is going to launch its entry level sedan, Vento, in India on July 6, 2010. The price of the car would range from Rs.700,000 to Rs.900,000. The car will be imported as complete knocked down unit and then assembled in Volkswagen's Chankan plant in Pune where the company produces Polo and Skoda Fabia hatchback.
The Vento will compete in the A3 segment with Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Fiat Linea. It will come in five colors- deep black, flash red, glacier blue, silver and candy white color.
The new sedan will offer more leg space compared to the polo. The Vento will have 50mm extra wheel base. It is 4.38 meters long, 1.7 m wide and 1.46 m high and comes with 50 mm of extra wheelbase.
Comfort features include height adjustable driver seats, power windows, engine immobilizer, newly designed steering wheel, new controls on dashboard and more shoulder and headroom.
The carís safety features include airbags, ABS, EBD.
The car will have both petrol and diesel version. The 1.6 litre petrol, common rail, four-cylinder engine is capable of producing 105 bhp. It will have a maximum torque of 15.8 kgm. The diesel version will have 1.6 liter common rail engine with a maximum capacity of 105 bhp. The diesel variant will produce a maximum torque of 25.5 kgm and a fuel efficiency of 14 kmpl.
Volkswagen might offer both manual and automatic options for Vento. The automatic option would come with a six-speed DSG gearbox.
With this car, Volkswagen, in total, will have seven models in India- Polo, Vento, Passat, Touareg, New Bettle, Jetta and Phaeton....being a human...
