Aishwarya Rai might have been an architect
Men swoon at the sight of her and women go green with jealousy. Aishwarya Rai, one of the most beautiful women in the Hindi film industry, may not have been an actress at all. She may have been an architect. At least that’s what she planned to be after winning the Miss World crown in 1994.
“After my Miss World win I wasn't sure which career path should I choose. I was planning to complete my studies in architecture. But then one fine day I was told that Mani Ratnam would like to discuss a role with me and that was it. It was some God send message,” said the actress who made her acting debut in Ratnam’s Tamil film Iruvar in 1997.
Promoting her upcoming film Raavan (directed by Mani Ratnam) through a video conference held in New Delhi, Ash said ever since her first movie, she’s felt like a student while working with Ratnam.
“With Mani it is being the student of art wanting to learn more. He ignites the hunger in you as an actor, wanting to do something better with every shot,” Aishwarya said.
Raavan tells the story of a ruffian named Beera (Abhishek Bachchan) who kidnaps the wife (Ash) of an encounter specialist (Vikram) and takes her into a jungle.
Speaking about her character in the film, Ash revealed: “My character Ragini is Mani's perception of this strong willed woman abducted by Beera. And the story is about the dynamics between the three characters.”
Raavan is set to release on June 18. The film had a lavish premiere in London on June 16....being a human...
