‘Raajneeti’ going great guns in US
Three weeks ago, it was Kites which opened at number 10 position on the US box office charts; and now it’s Raajneeti which is at no 11 on the charts, collecting $917,000 in just three days, reveals distributor UTV.
The huge collections in North America are a first for any political film coming from Bollywood, and also for director Prakash Jha who’s famous for making reality based socio-political dramas. Well, the reason for good response could be anything from the movie’s cast ensemble or its crowd-pulling faces like Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor to the film’s extensive publicity.
According to reports, ‘Raajneeti’ which released on 124 screens all over the US also boasted of the highest per screen average - $7,395 - among the top 20 films. The film is not only well received by the US audience mainly comprising of Indians but also by the American media that thinks the movie owes a lot to Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece The Godfather....being a human...
