Box Office report : 'Raajneeti' rocks!
An almost unanimous thumbs-up given by critics coupled with the favourable word of mouth from all those who’ve seen Raajneeti has helped the movie garner very good collections in its opening weekend.
Going by the trade figures, the film went from strength to strength during the weekend. On Friday it collected around Rs 10.5 crore nett; on Saturday the figure shot up to Rs 11 crore nett and Sunday was still better with Rs 12.5 crore nett.
Starring a host of actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpai, Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar and Naseeruddin Shah, the movie has been drawing a lot of cine buffs to theatres. Spice Cinemas in Delhi reported an average occupancy of 95 percent during the weekend. Even DLF DT cinemas reported an occupancy of 90 percent.
Directed by Prakash Jha and produced by UTV, the movie has been made at a budget of around Rs 45 crores. Its first weekend collection is around Rs. 34 crores. And with no major competition at theatres till June 18 (when Raavan releases), the film is expected to have a good second weekend as well....being a human...

Raajneeti has shocked and stunned the industry by recording earth shattering collections over its first weekend. The weekend collections are in the 34 crore nett region as per early estimates.
The early estimates of the daily breakdowns are 10.25 crore nett for Friday, 11 crore for Saturday and humungous 12.75 crore nett for Sunday. The only film that can be compared to it is Three Idiots which did 38 crore nett over a similar period but it was Christmas weekend which is regarded as the best weekend of the year for a release. At places the occupancies for Raajneeti have actually been higher than Three Idiots over the first weekend. The film has is one of those rare films which is doing outstanding business all over India.
Raajneeti is certain to be the first Super Hit of 2010 and is easily the biggest hit of 2010 and the next few days will determine how big the film actually turns out....being a human...
