Younis Khan ban lifted, Afridi fine revokedThe PCB removed the bans and reduced the punishments that were handed out to the Pakistani players after the disastrous tour of Australia earlier this March. The latest to join this list was Younis Khan, whose indefinite ban was revoked.
Earlier, Shoaib Malik’s one year ban was also lifted, and then, Afridi’s Rs. 3 million punishment was cancelled in totality, whereas the rest of the players’ fines were reduced to Rs. 1 million each.
The PCB President Ejaz Butt said that this was not a U-turn, but very much a part of the constitution and legal.
Retired judge Irfan Qadir made the announcements of these reductions, and said that Afridi had already been punished by the ICC and two punishments for the same misdemeanor was not legal.
Qadir also said that he thought that the Akmal brothers had accepted their guilt and hence, everyone needed to be treated at par. This meant that the fine was reduced to a million rupees each....being a human...
