2010: Top 10 TV Reality shows of the Year

While some reality shows on television have been lambasted for their so-blah content, a few others have rubbed the Indian audience the right away. Here are the most popular reality shows on TV that have garnered TRPs and eyeballs this year...The baap of all controversies, 'Bigg Boss' got into even bigger trouble for its adult content this year. The show that witnessed some of the most vociferous arguments between house-mates also got a rap on the wrist from the I&B Ministry. Heated arguments between Dolly Bindra and the rest of the participants made headlines and so did the entry of former Playmate Pamela Anderson. All in all, the spiciest TV show we have seen in some time.

Amitabh Bachchan returned yet again on the small screen with the fourth season of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'. The show has proved very popular at prime time 9 pm and one of the contestants has already taken home a booty of Rs 1 crore. This season, several of the big Bollywood actors have made a beeline to sit in the hot seat opposite Big B while also promoting their films on the show. The prize amount that had been won by the actors went to charity. Also, this year's booty going up to Rs 5 crore from Rs 1 crore was also hotly discussed.

    Emotional Atyachar Season 2
After Angad Bedi hosted a very successful first season, model and Mr India 2008 Pravesh Rana took over the reins from him to host this very controversial show. While criticism about the show did not die down, several Bollywood actors including Ranbir Kapoor and John Abraham went on the show to dish out advice to the young participants feeling cheated in love.

The show not only has contestants from India but also abroad. The show that has earlier produced singing sensations like Shreya Ghoshal and Kunal Ganjawala, this year got music directors Vishal-Shekhar, Sajid-Wajid and Daler Mehndi to pick the participants from several cities here and abroad. With an eclectic mix of contestants, this season of the show is proving to be the most popular among the music reality shows on TV.

    Rahul ka Swayamvar

While in the last season, 'Rakhi ka Swayamvar' raised several eyebrows, the swayamavar held for the late former minister Pramod Mahajan's son Rahul Mahajan on live TV also set the tongues wagging. After the girls all aspiring to be Mrs Mahajan danced in front of Rahul, sang songs and even demonstrated other 'homely' skills, Rahul finally decided to tie the knot with a model from Kolkata Dimpy Ganguly. The show ended with an opulent wedding between the two and the couple soon after, left for their honeymoon. However, a few months later, Dimpy went to the police to complain against her hubby for domestic violence.

After participating in a reality show, item girl Rakhi Sawant decided to turn the tables and host her own show. In 'Rakhi ka Insaaf', Rakhi set out to solve domestic issues within families and garnered a substantial number of TRPs. However, all hell broke loose after a man who Rakhi had insulted on her show committed suicide. There is a court case pending against her.

After Akshay Kumar hosted 'Khatron ke Khiladi' earlier, Piggy Chops made an attempt to set the mercury soaring by stepping into his shoes. She traveled with the team of participants to Rio de Janeiro and also wore some cool clothes while hosting the show. However, her act failed to impress the critics who argued that she was not as dare-devil and enthusiastic as Akki himself. TV actor Shabbir Ahluwalia emerged the winner.

    Dance India Dance
After the very successful season 1 and 2, 'Dance India Dance' or simply called 'DID' is back with its third season that is conducting auditions right now. Also, this season will see contestants pairing up with a fellow dancer to perform on the show. TV actor Jay Bhanushali who has hosted the show in the past will anchor the show once again. 'DID' will yet again have Geeta Kapoor, Remo D'Souza, Terence Lewis and Mithun Chakraborthy as the judges.

The show was launched on Indian television to showcase unknown acts and talents. Season 2 that recently got over saw the judges Sonali Bendre, Kirron Kher and Sajid Khan voting in favour of the Shillong Chamber Choir from Maghalaya to get the top honours. In fact, such was the popularity of the show that the Choir also got to perform live in front of visiting American President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama recently.

For the new season of this TV dance reality show, Bollywood's dancing queen Madhuri Dixit has come all the way from US to be the celebrity judge on the show. Madhuri will have choreographer Remo D'Souza as her fellow-judge. After her fabulous dancing act for 'Munni Badnaam', Malaika Arora Khan has been named the third judge on the show.
