The wait to score an unprecedented 100 international centuries for Sachin Tendulkar continued on Tuesday.

Sachin's fans were once again left heart broken after Pattinson dismissed Sachin.

India produced a shoddy batting display against a quality Australian pace attack led by rookie James Pattinson (3/25) as they were tottering at 72 for four on the first morning of the opening cricket Test here today.

Electing to bat, all the Indian top-order batsmen struggled except for Sachin Tendulkar (batting 21) on a greenish pitch at the Sydney Cricket Ground which is hosting its 100th Test.

Pattinson was again the enforcer as he hustled Gautam Gambhir (0), Virender Sehwag (30) and VVS Laxman (2) into submission while his Victorian fellow fast bowler Peter Siddle accounted for Rahul Dravid (5) as the visitors took lunch at 72 for four in 26 overs.

Tendulkar alone looked in complete control and young Virat Kohli (12) was pleasantly serene as the two looked to carry on the fight after lunch.

On a bright sunny day, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni had no hesitation in opting to bat but he had hardly settled himself in the seat when Gambhir left the centrestage, closing his bat on to a seaming delivery from Pattinson which took the edge of his bat for a straightforward catch to Michael Clarke at second slip.

Sehwag, at the other end, was not dissuaded with the Australian plan to lure him on strokes outside the off-stump and drove Pattinson through covers in the latter's second over for his first boundary.

Pattinson bowled with aggression without much control before Peter Siddle replaced him in the ninth over of the innings.

Siddle was a picture of control and aggression from the beginning even though he was hit for two fours on the off-side by Sehwag, on both occasions the right-hander being never quite in control of his strokes.
