Chris Gayle’s 300 was the 24th occasion when a triple-century was scored in Test match cricket. The 24 triple-centuries have been scored by 20 different batsmen with four of them having achieved the feat twice.

The four batsmen who have scored the triple centuries twice are Virender Sehwag, Don Bradman and Brian Lara, apart from Gayle. The first ever triple-century scorer in the history of the game was Andy Sandham of England. Lara is the only player to scored a 400 that he had done against England in 2004 – ten years after he made 375.

The second-highest scorer in the history of Tests is Matthew Hayden who has made 380, while Mahela Jayawardene has made 374. This is followed by Garfield Sobers (365), Len Hutton (364), Sanath Jayasuriya (340) and Hanif Mohammad (337).
Sehwag is the only player to have scored a 300 for the Indians and he has done it twice in his career.
