The English football club Everton has suspended Brazilian forward Jo for making an unauthorised trip to his hometown. Manager David Moyes on Friday said that the loaned player had made a trip to Brazil without seeking prior permission.

Jo is on a loan stint in Everton from Manchester City. He was already sidelined as he sustained a knee injury. The player has not been in the field since Dec. 12.

Moyes said ,"Jo went back to Brazil without permission from the football club. He is now back but is suspended at the present time.

"I am disappointed. We like Jo, he has been a really good lad and we have enjoyed having him. But there has to be discipline at all football clubs. He left over a busy period when we were short of players. I found it very difficult so he is suspended from the club."

Jo had moved to City from CSKA Moscow for 18 million pounds in July 2007. The lightweight forward did not have a good season as he failed to score in the Premier League and earned just two goals in cup competitions.
