Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has been suspended for nine months after being found guilty of pushing a referee.

The former Brazil international has been punished by the LFP for an incident with official Alexandre Castro in the tunnel following PSG’s 1-1 draw with Valenciennes at the Parc des Princes on May 5.

Leonardo was provisionally suspended on May 8 for his actions, which came after Castro had sent PSG captain Thiago Silva off in the first half of the Ligue 1 game.

And it was confirmed on Thursday that the LFP's disciplinary commission has decided to impose a nine-month ban on the 43-year-old, a ruling that prohibits him from all official duties at the club until February 2014.

As a result of this punishment, Leonardo will not be able to stand on the touchline or be present in the referee's room during games.

The LFP has also imposed a suspended deduction of three points on PSG's 2013-14 Ligue 1 campaign for Leonardo’s indiscretion.
