Default Flintoff retires from all forms of the game

Andrew Flintoff, the English all rounder, has retired from all walks of cricket. He was out of the game for more than a year, recovering from a knee injury that has plagued him throughout his career.

The failure to recover permanently from the injuries has forced him to quit the game altogether. Flintoff had been hoping to recover in time for the World Cup. However, the advice given to him has made him take this decision that he announced yesterday looking forlorn.
Flintoff has played many memorable knocks for England and has also rescued England with the ball on many an occasion. His willingness to bend his back while bowling even on flat tracks has been a great trait in him and one that has made him an admirable cricketer. However, that willingness brought him his injuries that have continued to hurt him all this while.
His statistics as a player do not tell his remarkable ability to turn a match on its head on his own on his day. He also played the game with smile and enjoyed banter while playing. The picture of him consoling Brett Lee after a remarkable Test at Edgbaston in 2005 is still fresh on the memories of cricket fans and will continue to do so.
