Default Danish Kaneria misses bus to UAE

Pakistani legspinner Danish Kaneria was not allowed to travel to UAE to play against South Africa. The leggie has not been “cleared” by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to join the Test team. The information was given by Zakir Khan, who is the PCB’s director of cricket international.
Upon the announcement, the UAE-bound Kaneria had to give a halt to his journey. There was no conclusive, sufficient or reasonable evidence as to why Kaneria was not allowed to play. This was a last minute development and a complete U-turn taking into account the previous decision taken in October.

When the team was announced in October, Kaneria was included in the original team. The chief selector, Mohsin Khan had made it clear that none of the players were selected without a clearance. This clearly meant, Kaneria was cleared at that time itself.
As a selected player, Kaneria also joined the training camp for the team which was scheduled to travel to UAE.
This last-minute decision has surely encouraged rumors for the abrupt twist in the final call.
