    THE MAGNIFICENT TAJ- TAJ THEN

    The Taj Mahal Palace is a prestigious hotel located in the Colaba region of Mumbai, India, next to the Gateway of India. Part of the Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces, this 105-year old heritage building retains its stature as the flagship property of the group.











    THE DREADFUL DAY

    On November 26, 2008 the hotel was damaged in a series of attacks in the southern part of Mumbai. The roof of the hotel was destroyed by fire in the hours after the terrorist attack.











    THE MAGNIFICENT TAJ- TAJ NOW

    Several teams of India's elite NSG commandos, Marine Commandos (Marcos), Anti-Terror Squad(ATS), Army infantry and local Mumbai police stormed the building and were engaged in a firefight with terrorists on the fifth floor.







    BITS AND PIECES

    Tata Group chief Ratan Tata visited the Taj Hotel shortly after three terrorists were gunned down by the National Security Guards in the fresh gunbattle early Saturday morning to take stock of the landmark building.











    SHATTERED N DESTROYED

    Many prominent business personalities and corporate executives, including Yes Bank Chairman Ashok Kapur, Sunil Parekh and developer Pankaj Shah, were killed during the terrorist attack at many points at Taj and another luxury hotel Oberoi (Trident).







    TRAUMATISED TAJ

    Following a heavy exchange of fire, National Security Guard (NSG) commandos early on Saturday gunned down three terrorists at the Taj Heritage hotel, DG NSG J K Dutt said, adding that operation Taj, codenamed Operation Cyclone, was almost over.











    TAJ AT STAKE

    One of the terrorists, who was standing near the window, was killed when a security personnel shot at him while he attempted to lob a grenade.










    THE AFTERMATH

    A chief of a Indian Navy commando unit flushing out terrorists at Mumbai's Taj Hotel said on Friday that he saw 12 to 15 bodies in one room.










    OPERATION TAJ

    There was lot of smoke into CCTV room and entry was not feasible. The staff indicated that terrorists indicated have gone into new building of Taj.










    UNEXPECTED ATTACK

    At least 125 people have been killed and more than 300 wounded in the terror strikes in Mumbai.
