    The Teams:
New Zealand have one of the most prolific limited overs specialists in their lineup but have failed to fire in unison in the matches that matter, which is required to sustain in bigger tournaments like the World Cup. Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum are known for their big hits but their vulnerability against quality attack was exposed in the game against the Aussies.

Jesse Ryder has been very patchy in the recent times and so is Ross Taylor. The experience of Scott Styris and Jacob Oram could prove handy in the sub-continent conditions for the Kiwis. James Franklin was out for a duck against Aussies but can be expected to bounce back.

Nathan McCullum has done a decent job as a pinch-hitter as well as a dependable batsman during top-order collapses. The ability of the tail to score quick runs adds depth to the Kiwi batting line-up.

The New Zealand bowling looked extra-ordinary against Zimbabwe and Kenya but failed against the Aussies. However, with their experience of bowling to the Pakistan cricketers in the recently concluded ODI series, they might have their plans ready for the Pakistan batsman. Tim Southee, Kyle Mills and Daniel Vettoriís capabilities with the ball is well known and a stiff contest can be expected between the two teams.

Pakistanís batting worries have just increased after they were dismissed for just 184 runs in 43 overs against Canada. If not for skipper Shahid Afridi, the team would have had the embarrassment of going down to the minnows.

The opening pair of Mohammad Hafeez and Ahmed Shehzad have failed to give the kind of start that the team would have expected, putting more pressure on the middle and lower middle order. Misbah-ul-Haq, Younis Khan and Umar Akmal have thus far played well enough to help the team post decent totals.
With Abdul Razzaq coming in at number eight, Pakistanís batting has enough depth but the batsmen have failed to apply themselves, leaving the bowlers with plenty to do.

    Why watch this match?

New Zealand would be looking to take revenge for their recent series loss to Pakistan on their home soil while Pakistan would be looking to strengthen their hold at the top of the group. Both the teams have met each other seven times in the World Cups with Pakistan winning the last six matches comfortably.

    Players to look out for:
Shahid Afridiís unorthodox leg-spinners have caused problems to the Kiwis in the past and with the kind of form the Pakistan skipper is in, it remains to be seen how the likes of Guptill, McCullum and Ryder handle the threat. Ross Taylor is due a big innings in the World Cup and would be hoping to come good against their most common opponents in the recent times.
