Default 'Slumdog' child stars want house in Bandra

'Slumdog Millionaire' child stars Rubina and Azharuddin, whose shanties were pulled down recently, have asked the local unit of the Congress to provide them houses in the vicinity of Bandra, where they lived earlier.

The childern along with their parents on Tuesday met MPCC President Kripashankar Singh at his home in suburban Vile-Parle and placed the demand before him.

Mr Singh said that he conveyed his inability to meet their demand since vacant houses were not available in Bandra, a posh suburb of the metropolis.

Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has last week sanctioned the houses built by government agency MHADA in Malvani area of North Mumbai to the child actors under his discretionary quota for economically weaker sections.

They have to accept the allotment letter in 15 days failing which it will be cancelled.

However, the families of the two children, who were staying in Bandra slums, are not inclined to move to Malvani as the area was far off from their current place of residence.
