Readers may be aware that almost a year ago, Ronit Roy had announced his plans to remake Basu Chatterjee's cult film Shaukeen, that comprised of his dream cast including the likes of Rishi Kapoor, Boman Irani and Naseeruddin Shah. Now, just when the film was set to roll, Eagle Video's Aditya Bhatia has claimed that only his company has the rights to remake Shaukeen.

Speaking about this issue, Aditya said that they hold the remake rights of the said film. In fact they plan to formally announce the film by the end of November. There is also a buzz that Eagle Video has got Rumi Jaffery to write and direct the film and will star Paresh Rawal, Anu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor in lead. As for the heroine, there's a buzz that Huma Qureshi might step into Rati Agnihotri's shoes.

On the other hand, Ronit maintains that he has the remake rights Shaukeen and that he has a signed remake deal with Chatterjee. He also added that his legal team is working to safeguard his contract.
