Bollywood’s ‘first family’, the Kapoors, are putting final touches to revive the RK Films’ banner eleven years after it was temporarily discontinued. The determined venture was set by the famous actor of Indian cinema, late Raj Kapoor, in 1951.Talking to a news daily about the revival of RK Films, late Raj Kapoor’s eldest son Randhir Kapoor said, “We are working on it (revival of the banner). We have met a few people and we will make an announcement very soon.”By the way, ‘Aa Ab Laut Chalein’ (1999) was the last film produced by RK Films.

The film tanked at the Box Office, forcing the Kapoors to temporarily shut down the banner.A close source told the news daily, “Randhir Kapoor had earlier spoken to his daughter Kareena (Kapoor) about doing a film. But she hasn’t been able to allot dates. That was the reason the re-launch got postponed. Otherwise it would have happened a few months ago. Now, actually Raj Kapoor’s grandson Ranbir Kapoor (Rishi Kapoor’s son) is keen to revive the banner.

The source says, “Ranbir Kapoor wants to restart the banner. He has been trying to convince Randhir and Rishi to do the same. There is a script that the banner might be revived with and it may star Ranbir.” The project with Kareena has been dropped as of now. So, in all probabilities, this will be the first project where Rishi will direct his son Ranbir, added the source.
