    Lightbulb NDTV Greenathon highlights

    [DOWN]Today where globalization has become a huge issue and the whole world has come up together to save the earth, NDTV has also taken an initiative to save the planet earth.

    In the second season of NDTV-Toyota’s 24 Hour Greenathon II; Actress Priyanka Chopra was the ambassador for this season.

    Celebrities like Kareena Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Arshad Warsi, and Vivek Oberoi performed on the stage to raise funds and to light the villages all over India.

    Here are the highlights of the show:

    Bollywood celebs like Shahrukh Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Kareena Kapoor took part and extended their full support to the NDTV's Greenathon. They took a pledge to do their own bit for a greener planet.

    Actress Kareena Kapoor has pledged to help light up a village called Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh.

    Actor Abhay Deol, who supports Wildlife SOS, says that he is concerned about many species that are disappearing. He said, "The way tigers are disappearing, out kids will not have an opportunity to see them."

    NDTV Greenathon managed to light up 155 villages across the nation making the endeavour a huge success. Hrithik Roshan adopted 5 villages and Shah Rukh Khan decided to sponsor 8 villages! Here's a look.

    Artists who can paint and draw have even put their art on exhibition to raise fund for the villages.

    In Srinagar, a man named Abdul Hamid pledged to sponsor a village in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. He also pledged to plant 20,000 trees.

    As part of NDTV-Toyota’s 24-hour Greenathon II; Model, Actor and Marathon Man Milind Soman concluded his 100kms run today at Yash Raj Studios, Andheri and helped raise 50 lakhs to light villages. Milind’s run was flagged off by Raveena Tandon, the previous day at 7pm and celebrities like Rahul Bose, Shaina NC, Shahana Goswami, Rahul Dev, Kalki Koechlin and Maria Goretti motivated him along the route. Bappi Lahiri, Raghav Sachhar, Suraj Jagan and Abhijeet Bhattacharya sang and played for him and pledged their support to the green cause.

    School children cycled along the way as Milind ran, in order to increase awareness about the green cause. Also cheering Milind during the run, were his family and Kingfisher Calendar girls Himarsha Venkatsamy and Nidhi Sunil.

    During his 24-hour run, Milind covered some of the prominent places in Mumbai including Carter Road, Shivaji Park, Worli Sea Face, Wilson College, Gateway of India, Phoenix Mills, Diamond Garden, Inorbit Mall (Vashi), RK Studios, Khalsa College and Juhu Beach.

    The Greenathon is a 24-hour nonstop programming initiative by NDTV and Toyota dedicated to create environment awareness.
