Narayana Dada, who was a spot boy on the set of the original Himmatwala, reprised his role after 30 years in the remake. And no, he did not complain, but enjoyed his stint

Almost all those involved in the original Himmatwala have moved on in life - right from the lead pair - Sridevi and Jeetendra, to Sajid-Wajid, who as young kids, used to hang out at the studio with their father and have produced the new version of the Naino Mein Sapna song. Even Bappi Lahiri, who counts it as one of his most iconic tunes.

There is one man though, who continues to shine the light on the new stars of the remake, just as he did 30 years back. TOI came across an affable Nayarana Dada, a spot boy with Sajid Khan's team, who started off as a spot boy on the sets of the original film.

Too shy to speak to the media, Narayana, preferred to spend his free time chatting with the cast and crew, or anybody who cared to listen to his stories - and he had plenty of them.

Sajid says: "He was recruited by the Hyderabad unit of my team. I had no clue about his connection with the film, until one day, he walked up to me and said, 'you are doing a good thing by remaking this film. I was a part of the original. I am doing the same thing now.'"

Sajid says Narayana was not remorseful at being stuck with his work. "He takes a lot of pride in what he does. I was left moist-eyed by his earnestness. To me he was a celebrity for the rest of the schedule."
