He played the real-life gangster Maya Dolas in Sanjay Gupta's Shootout At Lokhandwala in 2007. But it seems that as time has progressed, Vivek Oberoi doesn't think he is gangster material anymore. Reportedly, the actor, who was brought on-board to play Dawood Ibrahim in the sequel Shootout At Wadala, has opted out of the film.

A source informed us that Vivek felt that Dawood was too controversial a character. "Others in the industry, however, feel that Vivek was keen to play the lead character, like he did in the original film. But John Abraham has already been cast to essay the lead gangster Manya Surve," explained the source.

Reportedly, this news has shocked Gupta. The filmmaker and Vivek have always shared a very good professional equation, ever since they worked together in the original film in 2007. "Sanjay is quickly short listing other actors for the film, which goes on floors in December," added the source.

While Oberoi remained unavailable for comment, Gupta told Mumbai Mirror, "I will sit with Vivek one last time to discuss if he is willing to reconsider his decision. Otherwise, I shall cast some another actor in Vivek's place."
