Anupam Kher who will be seen in Deepa Mehta's Midnight's Children pays his tribute to the director through this film.

Based on Salman Rushdie's novel by the same name which also won the Booker Prize in 1981, Anupam feels the Indo Canadian filmmaker has done full justice. "Midnight's Children has been a wonderful experience. I just have two scenes in the beginning. Deepa asked me to do this film and I did it and am very happy to be a part of it. It is my tribute to her and I've admired her work. I attended the Toronto premiere of the film and I've heard it's received 11 nominations in the Genie Awards which is the Canadian Academy Awards. What more can an actor ask for", says Anupam.

Taking a stance on the age old debate of whether film adaptations do justice to the books they are based on, the actor adds, "In certain cases when you read a book, you have your own characters and settings which do not match with a director's perception. You do intend to get disappointed. But both Silver Linings Playbook and Midnight's Children are very close to the book. Midnight's Children is a saga of so many years and the screenplay has been done by the writer himself. So Rushdie's done full justice. Other works that I thought were very good and close to the book were The Godfather and One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest".
