The River to River 2012 Indian Film Festival in Florence has invited Amitabh Bachchan where a retrospective of his films has been arranged. The film festival will be held from 7 to 13 December.

The 70-year-old veteran is super excited about visiting the city and the festival where some of his films like Sholay, Black, Deewar along with a documentary on him titled Everlasting Light will be screened.

"Tomorrow to Florence, Italy as guest of honour for the Film Festival which does a retrospective of my films, starting with Black," wrote the actor on Twitter.

Incidentally, Jaya Bachchan was also invited but she won't be able to join him on the trip. "It was meant to honour Jaya and myself, but she cannot come because she has to attend Parliament," he added.

The film festival will also screen other films like Raja Harishchandra, Rockstar and Gangs of Wasseypur.

Earlier, Bachchan was conferred an honorary doctorate from the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia and was also awarded France's highest civilian honour, the Knight of the Legion of Honour, for his exceptional career in the world of cinema and beyond.
